Marbles2 v1.5 - A free lightweight addictive puzzle game for the Palm Pilot

April 2006 Since developing Marbles Squared back in 2002, I've seen around 250,000 downloads of my game (3 1/2 years later) - and I have to tip my hat to you guys and gals who keep playing the game and keep submitting your scores - even I couldn't get higher than 5,000 points.

As you may or may not know, Marbles is now one of those old school classic games that's ceased development - but, as long as I can, I'll keep the high scores web site up and running.

Marbles has always been, and always will be a free game, but if you feel like you've got a special love for the game and you want to donate a few dollars, pounds or euros because my game has wasted away your hours (possibily when you were supposed to be taking important meeting notes that time) then I would be really very grateful. You can do it through PayPal by clicking on the PayPal button.

Thanks for playing Marbles squared, and be sure to upload your high scores.

Sidenote: If you've recently got hold of a Sony PSP - I'm also running a small PSP news site - so please have a look.

Quick Overview

Send in your High Score

Marbles Squared - send your score in When you get a top score on Marbles, you should email your score to me and I'll add it to the leaderboard.

The animation on the left can show you how to do this, as I've found that since we're so used to tapping on the heading for drop down menu, some people forget that the menu is even there!

So, get this code, and email to me and compete for that top slot!

Scoring Strategy

A guide to high scores and getting on the leader board by the UK's Marbles2 champion, Mike King.

The strategy, such as it is, is to try to see the patterns:
  1. Scan the grid, and look to see if one particular colour can be cleared.
  2. What would be the effect of clearing that colour on the other marbles?
  3. Would this leave another colour ready to be completely cleared.
  4. Arbitrarily joining large blocks of one colour to get a high single score almost always leads to disaster.
  5. Keep an eye on the ends, to make sure that there are enough marbles to match up when they join, or make sure the ends can be cleared by themselves, i.e. are blocks.
  6. Keep an eye on the bottom corners, particularly when the sequence is:
      XY
      YX
How are you going to clear that?
  7. Signing up with a psychiatrist helps, and some good strong nerve pills are also essential.
  8. Also remove all fragile or breakable items from the immediate vicinity.
  9. Tell all your friends about the game - author note :-).
